Back to school means back to LOL

Probably won't be many jokes in this post, just some VERY pertinent information.

Laugh Out Loud is back for a new school year, bigger and better than ever. We're committed to becoming the best comedy group around--not just the best improv group, or the best comedy troupe at BYU, but the best troupe, any style, anywhere in Utah. If you like great comedy, then come to our shows, because you'll see great comedy.

Your first chance to do that this semester will be on Friday, Sep. 28, at 8:00 in 151 Tanner Building, likely our new permanent home. As usual, tickets go on sale for $2 at the Wilk Info Desk the Monday before. If we have any tickets left, you can buy 'em for $3 at the door. (Don't take your chances, though; we sold out most of our shows last year and expect to do the same this year.)

So that's the big announcement, but there's plenty more to mention for those who are interested in watching and/or participating in Laugh Out Loud this year.

1) If you want to make sure you always know about upcoming shows, you need to get on our mailing list. There are two ways to do that--either send an e-mail to lol@byu.edu and we'll put you on, or you can go to our regular website, lol.byu.edu, and type your e-mail address in the box beneath the banner heading (that part of our website still works, although the rest hasn't been updated since April due to technical issues. We'll hopefully have that resolved soon, until then this is our new temporary website.)

2) If you want to perform with Laugh Out Loud or even just want to have fun learning improv, you need to come to our club practices. We meet every Thursday from 7 to 9. Until further notice, we will be practicing in room 251 of the Tanner Building. If we change our practice location, we'll let you know right here.

3) Every fall semester, we take several new club members and put them through the LOL Funshop (like a workshop, but much more fun)--a several-week program run by Fred, our top improv teacher, that is more formalized and structured than our normal practices, culminating in a Funshop Show at the end of the semester where you get to perform in front of all your friends. If you want to be part of the Funshops, let us know by shooting us an e-mail (lol@byu.edu), and come to practice--the Funshops start the first week of October!

4) We're also looking for a new improv pianist. If you have mad ivory tickling skills, we want to use you in our shows. Again, let us know if you're interested.

I think that's all for now. Check this space often for club updates and information. This semester is going to be amazing!
